The Work from Home Mom’s Dilemma
There are many benefits to being a work at home mom and the biggest benefit is being able to be home with your children. No more feeling guilty about placing them in daycare and if you can even afford daycare. They can stay right at home with you while you work or can they? This is where the dilemma comes in.
Working from home is not as easy as one might think when you have children at home with you, especially if they are young. Besides for the constant attention they require, they are also noisy. This makes it hard to work a job that requires being on the phone. Setting a schedule can be different when you have kids. It’s not like you can work a straight 8 hour day uninterrupted like you would an outside job. Typically a work day for a telecommuting mom is a couple hours in the morning and a couple in the afternoon. That’s because you have to stop to feed your children, play with them, break up sibling arguments, potty breaks, etc. If you are lucky enough to have any energy left at the end of the day, you might be able to bang out a few more hours once your kids are in bed and afford your next trip to botox London.
